Student Experience
Home Away from Home
We provide students with a safe, nurturing and caring environment they can call home.
An Inclusive Community
We offer an environment in which all are welcome and provide students and families with a strong support system.
Faith
Formation
Faith formation is integrated into daily academic lessons and students are immersed in Catholic-based, Christ-centric environments that educate the body, mind and spirit.
Spiritual Nourishment
Our Catholic schools are missions of love and learning that prepare each student to go out into the world and accomplish the great things God has planned for them.
Student Leadership Formation
Students learn to become concerned and enlightened citizens through acts of community service.
Academics
Focused on our goals of college and heaven, our Catholic schools are committed to providing a rigorous academic curriculum that nurtures college and career readiness, prepares students for 21st century challenges, and forms our students spiritually and socially.
Teachers implement best practices to build strong foundations and facilitate learning. Instruction is designed to provide students with opportunities for collaboration, communication, critical thinking and problem solving.
Catholic identity is intentional and integrated throughout all subject areas. Lessons are infused with Catholic social teachings and students are provided with service opportunities to foster moral development.
Standards are based on the TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and NCEA Standards. Together, these reflect a continuum of learning from Pre-Kindergarten through high school graduation. The Catholic schools in the Archdiocese of San Antonio exercise autonomy in discerning and selecting a course curriculum that best meets the needs of the school.
Catholic Arts & Academic Competition
Athletics
In perception and practice, sportsmanship is defined as those Christian qualities which are characterized by generosity and genuine concern for others. The ideals of sportsmanship apply equally to all activity disciplines. Individuals, regardless of their roles in activities, are expected to be aware of their influence on the behavior of others and model good sportsmanship.
Athletics are an important facet of the formation and growth of our students. Our student athletes learn what it means to balance the demands of highly competitive programs while remaining focused on excellence in academics. They are held to a high standard of integrity, sportsmanship, and leadership. Our schools participate in the CYO athletic league at the elementary grades and in the Archdiocesan Interscholastic Athletic League (AIAL) for middle school students. Our Catholic high school athletic programs are highly competitive and have earned many state championship recognitions in TAPPS.
Counseling & Guidance Program
Rooted in the mission of the church, our Catholic schools work towards offering counseling services that provide the developmental guidance and support necessary to help facilitate the intellectual, emotional, behavioral, social and spiritual growth of every child and youth served in Catholic Schools within the Archdiocese of San Antonio so they can more effectively handle their lives and their interactions with others.
The mission of the Catholic school counselor is to translate the mission of Catholic education and their school’s unique Catholic identity and faith traditions into a program of highly effective counseling services for students, faculty, and the school community. The primary areas of direct services include counseling, consultation, and coordination.
